Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Mesquite, TX
Answering Your Questions, Building Greater Confidence
When you have questions about dentistry or your personal oral health and hygiene, you may find that calling to speak to someone is much more challenging than you might think. Schedules become too busy to spend time chatting, so our team has compiled some of the most frequently asked questions from our current and previous patients. If you see that you would like further explanation or more information, call our dental office.
Are preventive dental checkups necessary every six months?
Yes, you should remember to see your dentist twice each year (or every six months) for a dental checkup and teeth cleaning. This allows them to use specialized instruments to reach decay that may be too deep for regular brushing and flossing. With early detection of cavities, gum disease, and even oral cancer, we can reduce your risk for serious oral and overall health problems in the future.
Do you provide sedation dentistry to help calm anxiety?
Yes, we are pleased to provide nitrous oxide sedation to help patients like yourself become calmer and more relaxed. This method of treatment is considered the mildest form of sedation dentistry available but is highly effective in eliminating anxiety and nerves associated with visiting the dentist. Not to mention, it is safe to use on children and adults.
When should I expect to bring my child in for their first visit?
Your child should begin visiting the dentist’s office once their first tooth erupts or before they reach the age of one. This first visit may not be spent performing a typical checkup and cleaning, but it will allow your little one to become familiar with the sights, sounds, and smells of the dentist’s office as well as get to know our dental team better.
Will my child be alone during their appointment?
No, your child does not have to be alone during their visit. You, as their parent, can remain close by in the treatment room so that they feel more comfortable. If it is your little one’s first visit, you have the option of sitting in the chair and having them remain on your lap while we look at their developing smile and discuss ways to improve oral hygiene at home.
Will you accept my dental insurance?
Yes! We are in-network with most PPO dental insurance plans, so we’ll be happy to review your policy and help you find ways to maximize your benefits. Our contractual agreements with these companies allow us to keep fees low so that you spend less each time you visit our office.
